Women In Training, Inc., a nonprofit focusing on youth empowerment and ending period poverty, hosts the Annual WIT 5K Run/Walk at Montgomery Whitewater. The event raises funds to provide menstrual and hygiene supplies, education, and leadership opportunities to underserved girls. Participants can join an in-person or virtual race, receiving medals and unique WIT 5K t-shirts. The event supports the WITKITS Campaign, combating period poverty exacerbated by the pandemic's economic impact. Since 2019, WIT has distributed over 50,000 WITKITS in Alabama, with each registration supporting their mission to empower future women leaders.
