Runners gather at the Pettit National Ice Center for an indoor last-person-standing progression run, where the pace increases every few laps until participants can no longer keep up. The event concludes with a final sprint among the remaining runners to determine the top finishers. Prizes are awarded for creative and fast teams, the furthest distance run in an ugly sweater, and a prediction contest. The event also includes a special recognition called the Mom of the Year award. Both runners and spectators can participate in the activities and celebrations.
