About the race

The Tokushima Marathon delivers a flat, certified marathon course alongside the Yoshino River, framed by Mt. Bizan and a sequence of historic bridges and rural riverbanks. Held each March with a generous 7-hour cutoff, it’s a strong choice for first-timers and steady-paced runners. The race begins at the Tokushima Prefectural Office and finishes at the City Athletics Stadium, tracing a route rich with regional landmarks—such as the 1,071-meter Yoshinogawa Bridge, the functional 10th Weir, and the century-old submersible bridges unique to Tokushima. With 8,000 participants, precise organization, and meaningful age-group awards, the event stands out for its structure and integrity. Tokushima’s volunteer support and attention to runner needs reflect the area’s commitment to quality over spectacle.
